DUMPPI RY - est. 1968

In 1968 the computer science students of University of Jyväskylä established their own subject association called Dumppi ry.

To become a member of Dumppi ry today, you need to be a student in University of Jyväskylä faculty of Information Technology and to have a major in:

  • Information Systems (BSc, Econ)
  • Cyber Security (MSc)
  • Cognitive Science (MSc)
  • Security and Strategic Analysis (MSc)
  • Information Systems (MSc)

Dumppi ry is a subject association dedicated to its students. The goal for the association is to:

  • supervise the interests of its members
  • to act as a link and as a means of networking between the students
  • to support the members’ studies, hobbies, professional and social aspects
  • to act as a link between stakeholders and companies
  • offer free-time activities, organize events and entertainment

To make this all happen, and to meet our goals, we actively take part in the process of improving education with the Faculty of Information Technology. We collect feedback from courses and pass them anonymously on to the people in charge of the courses. We make sure that the students’ voice is heard and participate in multiple different boards and meetings with the faculty.

To ensure that your life is not only studying, we as a subject association offer a range of different activities and events for you to participate in. These include weekly sports, different parties and sits fests – and a lot more! As a member of Dumppi, you can obtain a “Dumppi-sticker”. With this, you can get benefits from our partners.

Business cooperation is an important part of our subject association’s activities. We are actively cooperating with many different companies and organizations from IT-sector. Dumppi organizes excursions to these different companies which gives the members a great chance to network with professionals.

In charge of the operation of Dumppi ry are several active members. Their contact information can be found here. Dumppi office can be found in Mattilanniemi campus in Agora-building. (Ag D124.1)
